Avalon
Avalon is made up of four talented and experienced performers who have sung with top names in the Christian music industry like, 4Him, Ce Ce Winans, Margaret Becker and Twila Paris just to name a few. Believe it or not their very first appearance together was back in 1995 during the Young Messiah Farewell Tour...add in with that that they had never sung together and you have the makings of a jittery debut. But Michael Passons of the group reflects back on the first night of the tour, "It wasn't so much the huge crowd [of 10,000] we were worried about. We were nervous about performing in front of the other artists!" Janna Potter of the group remembers that, "Both the audience and the other artists were so encouraging and welcoming—that meant so much to us. We couldn't have asked for a better start."
That was their beginning and now after two gold albums and a list of number one singles to their name, Avalon has positioned themselves quit well in Christian music. Their fifth album, Oxygen, was produced by Christian music veteran Brown Bannister. From the new album you'll hear "The Glory" and also the new song "Come and Fill My Heart" on Positive Life Radio.
But while they're proud of their musical outreach, members Michael Passons, Janna Long (formerly Potter), Jody McBrayerr and Cherie Paliotta don't let it go to their heads. And aside from their success as one of Christian music's most popular pop vocal acts, these four are more than willing to tell you that they're not anymore spiritual or polished or put together than anyone else. They're real people who don't have life all figured out and are not shy in admitting that life is a bit rough at times. Maybe that's why their music has such a wide appeal.
