Budget Woes To Be Address In WA Today

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - The Washington state House and Senate
began their 60 day sessions today to find budget cuts and possibly
a sales tax increase to close a roughly $1 billion budget
shortfall. In December, Gov. Chris Gregoire proposed spending cuts
that include a shortened school year, the elimination of social
services for thousands of low-income residents and the early
release of some prisoners.
