Certain Flame Retardants May Be Banned From Children's Products
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state Senate committee has heard stestimony on a bill to ban a pair of carcinogenic flame retardants from children's products by 2015. The measure considered by the Energy, Environment and Telecommunications Committee to ban TCEP and chlorinated Tris, or TDCPP, was scaled back from the version passed by the Democratic-controlled House earlier this month. Not covered under the Senate version of the toxics ban are sofas and other household products.
