Colville Fish Hatchery

COLVILLE, Wash. (AP) — A proposal to sell the state's Colville Fish Hatchery to Stevens County has been approved. The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission approved selling the 95-year-old trout hatchery for $150,000 during a public meeting Saturday. The county plans to use it as an educational and vocational learning center. The Spokesman-Review reports the Department of Fish and Wildlife closed the facility last June and moved most of the fish production to the Spokane hatchery to cut costs in response to budget reductions.
