Computer To Land Drone On Air Craft Carrier

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Can a computer program perform land a drone the size of a fighter jet on the deck of an aircraft carrier? The Navy is going to find out today when the X-47B experimental aircraft leaves Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland for the USS George H.W. Bush, operating off the coast of Virginia. If all goes as planned, a successful landing of the drone will green-light the Navy's plans to develop another unmanned aircraft to join the fleet alongside traditional airplanes that provide around-the-clock surveillance with strike capability.
