WASHINGTON (AP) — The author of "The Global War on Christians" says estimates of the number of Christians being killed for their faith range from the hundreds to one hundred thousand per year.
Author and journalist John Allen testified Tuesday at a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing on the worldwide persecution of Christians.
Congressman Dana Rohrabacher said Christians in many countries are being slaughtered, but "that slaughter is being ignored." The California Republican said it's an evil that people of every faith should oppose.
The Vatican's U.N. observer, Archbishop Francis Chullikatt, agreed that everyone should be able to "choose the religion which one believes to be true" and be free to practice it openly without fear.
