Fire Near Omak Destroys Two Homes; Eight Other Structures
OMAK, Wash. (AP) — Lingering smoke and the proximity of a wildfire that has burned two homes and eight other structures have prompted officials at an Indian school in north-central Washington to cancel classes for the rest of the week. Fire spokesman Mark Grassel says the fire that grew rapidly in strong winds on Tuesday didn't grow much yesterday. It has burned across nearly 8 square miles, on the Colville Indian Reservation, and past the historic St. Mary's Mission and the Paschal Sherman Indian School.
