Katrina - Church Rebuilds
BILOXI, Miss. (AP) — A Methodist church that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina nearly seven years ago will soon have a new sanctuary and fellowship hall.
The Sun Herald reports that Leggett Memorial United Methodist Church in Biloxi, Miss., held a groundbreaking over the weekend.
The church lost three-quarters of its buildings in 2005 when Katrina struck. Since the storm, the congregation has worshipped in the Sunday School rooms and education building.
The Rev. Rachel Benefield-Pfaff says her congregation may be able to move into the new sanctuary in about six months.
