Koreas - Tension - Evangelist
BOONE, N.C. (AP) — The Rev. Franklin Graham says President Barack Obama could use basketball diplomacy to defuse tensions with North Korea and its young leader.
The son of evangelist Billy Graham says Obama should contact Kim Jong Un, whose regime has threatened to launch nuclear strikes on South Korea and the U.S.
Franklin Graham told KTIS radio that since Kim is in his 20s and loves basketball, Obama could invite him "to the finals."
The NCAA college basketball championship game will be played Monday night in Atlanta.
Franklin Graham has visited North Korea four times and his Samaritan's Purse humanitarian organization has operated there for years. His mother, the late Ruth Bell Graham, attended high school in Pyongyang in the 1930s and his father, Billy Graham, preached there in 1992.
