Oregon Aims To Stop Growth of Prison Population
SALEM, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon legislative committee has advanced a bill they say will meet a goal of curbing the state's growing prison population within the next five years. The Joint Committee on Public Safety advanced the bill yesterday with one lawmaker dissenting. The latest version of the legislation includes a plan to reduce sentences established in 2008 for certain drug and property crimes.
