September 11 Prayers
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (AP) — Prayer gatherings are planned in hundreds of counties nationwide this noon to mark the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
The Rev. Billy Wilson, chairman of Cry Out America, says the attacks that Tuesday morning in 2001 were a foretaste of the fear and collapse of certainties that would follow. He believes only Jesus Christ can vanquish that darkness.
Wilson says Christians will pray in churches, on courthouse grounds and at state capitols today for a new spiritual awakening.
No public prayers — only moments of silence — were scheduled for New York City's official Sept. 11 commemoration ceremony on the World Trade Center site in lower Manhattan.
