Teacher Slain In Iraq From Religious Wash. Family
COSMOPOLIS, Wash. (AP) - Friends of a man from Washington state
shot and killed at a school in northern Iraq say he was motivated
to teach there by his deep Christian faith.
Jeremiah Small, of Cosmopolis, taught history and literature at
a private Christian school with mostly Muslim students.
Pastor Brad Gill of the Light and Life Community Church in
Hoquiam says Small knew it might be dangerous but believed "this
was a way to serve and touch some lives for God."
An 18-year-old shot Small and committed suicide Thursday as
other students ran from the classroom. No motive was clear.
A Cosmopolis teacher who lived for a time with Small's family
says Small wanted to make sure his students "felt the love of God
in their lives."
