Tornado Church-Bar
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina church that lost its
building in the April tornado outbreak may have to move again
because it's close to a neighborhood bar.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that the True Life Ministries
Worship Center cannot meet in a strip mall because of zoning laws
that don't allow churches to open within 500 feet of a bar, or vice
versa.
The 100-member church held its first service in the renovated
site on Aug. 28. It was visited by a city inspector the next day.
The church's pastor says he'll appeal the zoning citation
because he doesn't mind being near a bar, and because thousands of
dollars have been spent preparing the site for Sunday worship.
