Two Morman missionaries killed in Texas
DONNA, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a driver has surrendered
after two Mormon missionaries on bicycles were killed and a third
was hurt after being hit by a car in Donna, Texas, near the Mexican
border.
Department of Public Safety Trooper Johnny Hernandez says the
victims wore helmets and were using bicycle lights when they were
struck by the oncoming car around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Hernandez says it was dark at the time and the driver fled the
scene, but later surrendered. Charges are pending.
A statement from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
identifies the men who died as 21-year-old Trevor Reinhold Strong
of Taylorsville, Utah, and 20-year-old Derek Jason Walker of
Fairfield, Idaho.
Hospital officials say 19-year-old Zachary Todd Harris of
Huntsville, Ala., was treated and released.
