Vanderbilt - Religious Groups
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Vanderbilt University has asked student
organizations to comply with a policy banning discrimination based
on sexual orientation and gender identity.
School officials say groups that don't comply could lose access
to funding and campus facilities.
Vanderbilt began a review of the policy after a gay student
complained that he was dismissed from a Christian fraternity.
The Tennessean reports that campus chapters of InterVarsity
Christian Fellowship and the Christian Legal Society are insisting
that their officers uphold the Christian groups' core beliefs.
College Republicans President Stephen Siao says Vanderbilt has
"launched an assault on religious groups on campus."
