WA LT. Gov. Fined

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Lt. Gov. Brad Owen has been fined $1,000 for failing to submit campaign-related finance reports. The Public Disclosure Commission approved the charge yesterday despite Owen's request that he not be fined. Owen argued that technical issues and poor advice from the PDC led to the delayed filings. Owen's arguments irked PDC commissioner Jim Clements, who said Owen was attacking the organization's staff. Half of the fine is suspended for two years.
