Holidays at the Beach, a Long Beach Tradition

“Holidays at the Beach” is a a Long Beach tradition bringing community together to kick off the Christmas season, November 25 through 27.

The Santa Sunset 5k and Reindeer Trot happen on Friday and costumes are encouraged! Dress up as Santa, or a reindeer or elf, or just come as yourself!

Saturday will be full of fun events. Shop “Small Shop Saturday” all day, and meet Santa in the afternoon. The city tree lighting will be happening that evening with Santa being the official tree lighter!

On Sunday you can meet the Christmas Mermaid. Grandmer Orchid will be there in her sea themed holiday cove. Bring your camera for a special holiday picture!

More fun will be added to the list of activities as we pull together a very special holiday weekend at the beach!

Friday, 10:30 and 1pm:
Free showings of the Polar Express serves as a food drive for local food banks. Wear your PJs and bring non-perishable food to the Neptune Movie House (suggested donation 1 to 2 items per person).

Friday, 4pm and 4:30pm:
The Santa Sunset 5K and the a half-mile Reindeer Trot at 4:30 is your chance to dress up as a Christmas character and run through the weather! Each run begins at the Arch at the Boldstad Approach.

Saturday, 11am and 1pm:
Kids can enjoy puppet shows at the Veterans Field stage

Saturday, 3-5pm:
Santa Claus is coming to town! Kids can meet him at the Veterans Field Stage between 3-5pm.

Saturday, 6pm”
The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and caroling happens at the park next to Castaway’s Seafood Grille. Santa is lighting the tree, this year!

Sunday, 12-2pm:
Meet the Holiday Mermaid! She’ll be “swimming” the Veterans Field Stage from noon to 2pm.
