Live Cinema Series: Don Giovanni
The 2019 Live Cinema Series continues at Gesa Power House Theatre with a screening of “Don Giovanni” by The Royal Opera on Wednesday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. This production is filmed live in London and rebroadcast internationally to select screens.
Mozart’s engaging masterpiece follows Don Giovanni (Erwin Schrott) and the vengeance that finally catches up with him. The opera is renowned for its ever-shifting portrayals of complex characters, fast-moving action and mix of the comic and the heartfelt. A cast of international singers – both familiar and making Royal Opera debuts – under conductor Hartmut Haenchen perform the glorious arias and ensembles of this opera favorite. Filmed during a live event, the Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house, with incredibly detailed close-ups of the performers.
This production of “Don Giovanni” is a co-production with Israeli Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, and Houston Grand Opera. Don Giovanni is performed in Italian with English surtitles. This screening has an approximate runtime of 3 hours and 30 minutes, including one intermission. Popcorn and snacks will be available for purchase and may be taken into the theater.
